Indie-Pop artist Ginesse is back with the release of her newest single, “Gatorade.”
It is an electronic-heavy song that beautifully showcases Ginesse’s dreamy and airy vocals. She enlists longtime collaborator, Matias Moras, as the producer who delivers a chill and sonic sound design.
The song title itself is a reference to a meme related to the phrase, “Mercury is in retrograde.” People sarcastically misspell “retrograde” with “Gatorade” when mentioning this phrase. But the original statement itself is a nod to the planet’s forward and backward motion.
In a press release, the singer talks about the meaning behind the song:
“It’s a love letter to those I shared time with where the doors have remained open without resolution and without a clear understanding of why.”
This single comes following the release of her 2020 EP, Somewhere To Die. The 5-track project gained over 138K streams on Spotify. A couple of the EP’s highlights include “4:2” and “All That I Wanted.”
Ginesse is the music project of LA-based artist and actress, Cait Fairbanks. Her name is based on a local street and the famous liquor brand. She looks to tell genuine and real stories that people could really connect with.
“I want my music to make people feel like the whole world is wrapping around them,” she says.
And she’s doing just that. Her songwriting and storytelling are very raw and real. You can feel that with every word she sings and this song truly showcases that.
