If you need new music for your playlist we got you covered with Boston native Gillian Heidi’s new single “Wonderin.’
The new single features fellow Bostonian Michael Christmas giving a hint of Billie Eilish meets Halsey. The pop singer said “Wonderin’ is all about feeling unsure in a relationship. When writing the song, I really wanted to capture the feeling of not fully trusting someone with no real reason why other than a gut feeling.” Written in 20 minutes, her freshman year of high school, shows the talent and passion this young artist has.
Inspired by artists like Ella Mai, Melanie Martinez, Arctic Monkeys, girl in red and The Neighborhood, a collection of the artists sounds are found in the songstresses music. Taylor Swift has also been a major influence for the singer since a young age and the person who inspired her to start writing songs.
Although Heidi only has a total of seven singles released, each single is an embodiment of honesty and authenticity, which perfectly reflects the rising singer herself. Authenticity within herself and her music has always been important to the singer saying “songwriting has always acted as my diary so I’ve never had to really force authenticity” but the hardest part is actually releasing the music with so much vulnerability.
At only 16 years old Heidi is on the road to success with her debut album 3AM set to release early next year. While music is such an important aspect of her life, so is education as Heidi also hopes to attend college upon graduation. Balancing school and music can be difficult but as the “Wonderin” singer has proven, nothing is going to stop her from chasing her dream.
