Get To Know Theo Bleak:
Beyond The Stage: You’ve just announced a new EP called Bad Luck Is Two Yellow Flowers. What’s your favorite unreleased track on the EP?
Theo Bleak: My favourite unreleased track is called “Said Like A Poet.” I’m particularly excited about this one.
BTS: What’s your recording process like? Do you write lyrics or music first?
Theo Bleak: Sometimes I write it all together. I also often write a lot of lines here and there which find a home in music later on. It really depends on the type of emotion I’m trying to express, whether or not it’s something that can be put into words.
BTS: You’ve previously shared works that were largely demos. Some people record demos in the tour van or in their room. How did you work on the songs for your Heaven.wav EP?
Theo Bleak: I wrote and recorded Heaven.wav in my bed. It’s mainly recorded through my laptop’s microphone. I found it such an honest bit of work because it kind of sounded like crap. I thought about producing it out and making them into ‘real songs’ but I was scared to lose the memory of making it all in my bed. I could never recreate that.
BTS: If your fans had to know one thing about you, what would it be?
Theo Bleak: I’m doing everything, all the time, just to be able to release the next bit of music.
BTS: Can you talk about opportunities fans have to see you perform live in 2025?
Theo Bleak: Yes, I have a few headlines lined up in the UK. I’m trying to obtain a VISA so I can tour in America. I’m hoping for some opening slots too.
BTS: You’ve made multiple releases in one year before. What else might we expect from you this year?
Theo Bleak: In my dream reality, after this EP, I’ll be working on my debut album. I will do whatever I can to make this work.
