Here at Beyond The Stage we got the chance to catch up with the Aussie rock band, Rest For The Wicked. We asked them all of our burning questions about their music journey, latest single and more. Read on for the full deets.
Beyond The Stage: How did you get started in music? What’s your story?
Tasker: I’m obsessed with sound. Every part of it. From the cry of a dying battery in a smoke alarm to the collective exclamation of an 80-piece orchestra. I want to know and understand everything there is to know about it, whilst still maintaining an absolute sense of bewilderment and naivety as to how it works.
Ben: My father used to play a versatile mix of music every morning I woke up. From blues to swamp cajun – I was consumed and introduced at a young age to various sounds like a caterpillar surrounded by a sonic cocoon.
BTS: How would you describe your sound to someone who hasn’t heard it before?
Rest For The Wicked: That band you hate to love.
BTS: Who are some of your musical influences?
Tasker: Mike Dean. Mike Myers. Myself.
Ben: Cudi. Leandoer. Nick Drake.
BTS: What was the writing process like for your latest single, “Bones”?
RFTW: In the room. On the spot. Simultaneous. A set of inspired ideas gifted from the infinite pool of consciousness that we draw from.

BTS: You dropped a video for the track as well. What was filming that like?
RFTW: Quick. Easy. Going out and getting wankered after the shoot was most definitely the highlight.

BTS: What are you most excited about now that tours are coming back?
RFTW: They aren’t yet in Australia. Very, very happy for artists and fans elsewhere though.
BTS: What artists have you had on repeat recently?
Tasker: Spacemen 3.
Ben: Aphex Twin.
BTS: What does the rest of 2021 have in store for you?
RFTW: There are only two definitions for RFTW2021:
1. Releasing more music.
2. Growing and expanding our skillset as songwriters, producers, and artists.
