“How To Feel Human” by OSTON & JORDY has been on repeat for us and we got the chance to talk to them both! OSTON & JORDY are two solo artists who have come together for their second collaboration and we are here for it (and any other collaborations they want to put out together). Read on to get all the details on OSTON & JORDY.
Beyond The Stage: How did you get started in music?
OSTON: Ever since I was a little kid I was singing and dancing and running around the house in crazy performance outfits non-stop. My parents put me in singing lessons when I was like 5 or 6 and I started writing my own songs shortly after. It wasn’t until I moved to Chicago for college that I got really into pop music and began writing seriously for myself and other artists.
JORDY: I’ve been singing ever since I could talk. As I got older I started singing in choir and show choir and acapella groups, so being on stage was always very natural and fun for me. When I got to college, I started feeling like I wanted to be known for more than just my voice – so I started to write. After I graduated I moved to LA and kept writing and networking and doing as many sessions as I could – and the rest is history!
BTS: How would you describe your sound to someone who hasn’t heard it before?
OSTON: Diary-like lyrics and over poppy production that will make you want to cry (in a good way) and sing-scream out your car window 🙂
JORDY: As an article once described my music, “for lovers of Lauv and songs that sound like cotton candy”.
BTS: Who are some of your musical influences?
OSTON: I grew up in a house filled with The Beatles, Crosby Still and Nash, Fleetwood Mac and Santana blasting on the record player, so by nature I gravitated towards the exact opposite (which was Kidz Bop and That’s NOW CD’s). Now I draw a lot of writing inspiration from Julia Michaels, Mitski, Lorde and Tove Lo.
JORDY: I grew up in a pop/rock household. My mom was always playing her 80’s pop faves while my dad was blasting Led Zeppelin. We all met in the middle listening to Avril Lavigne and Michelle Branch. Now, I find most of my inspiration from Julia Michaels, Lauv, FLETCHER and many others!
BTS: What was the recording and writing process like for your latest collaboration, “How To Feel Human”?
OSTON: We wrote this song last summer at a studio in Chicago with one of our favorite producers Drew Polovick. We were drinking some pink wine (or sour beer? Idk something fruity) and getting sappy about the state of the world and how when you’re young it feels like your parents can fix literally anything. But when you grow up and move away from home and have to face the harsh realities of adulthood it’s… tough haha.
JORDY: We wrote the song last summer in the middle of the pandemic. Things were so uncertain and we were honestly scared for the future. We started talking about how we wish our parents could fix our problems like they could when we were kids – and the song kinda poured right out of us.
BTS: You released a video for the single — what was the best part of creating it?
OSTON: Making this video was so special for a lot of reasons, but for me, the best part was being a complete ~dork~ at prom with my best friend. If JORDY and I had known each other in high school I’m sure we would’ve gone to a dance together and danced the exact way we did in that video. I’m surprised we were able to get any serious shots of us dancing together cuz we were laughing hysterically almost the entire time we were filming.
JORDY: At the end of the day, OSTON is one of my absolute best friends. So making music and visuals together is a dream come true. We had so much fun making this video together and creating a moment of nostalgia for our fans. We got to dance and dress up and eat cupcakes. What could be better!?

BTS: Do you two plan on collaborating again in the future?
OSTON: JORDY and I write together a lot. Like, a loooooot. We’ve become such close companions over the year-and-something months we’ve known each other and I truly believe we make some of our best work when we’re just hanging out and venting about life. I think we will be helping each other write songs for a long time and I’d be shocked if we don’t come across another song we both love too much to give up.
JORDY: Me and OSTON are gonna be writing songs together forever. Sooooo I’d be surprised if there wasn’t another collab at some point 🙂
BTS: What are you most excited about when it’s safe to tour again?
OSTON: As excited as I am to play shows again (and finally get to perform this new MUSIC!!!!) I’m equally as excited to be in the crowd watching some of my favorite artists play. I miss concert and festival culture so much and I couldn’t be happier now that it’s getting warmer out, and safer for us to start getting together for music again.
JORDY: Over the past year I’ve put out so many songs that I haven’t been able to perform yet. I can’t wait to get on stage and perform new ones, and just get that feeling back of hearing the crowd sing the songs back to me. It’s the best feeling in the world. Make sure to reserve tickets to my fall tour in my insta bio!
BTS: What artists have you had on repeat recently?
OSTON: WENS, UPSAHL, Ben Kessler, Holly Humberstone, Adam Melchor and Olivia Rodrigo.
JORDY: BLU EYES, Joy Oladokun, Chloe Moriondo, Conan Gray.
BTS: What does 2021 have in store for you?
OSTON: SOoooOoooOooo much more music and hopefully a couple of shows (TBA) with a good friend of mine 😉
JORDY: More music, shows, more music, and shows!!!
