It’s a big week for pop punk group Homebound! After recently releasing a music video for their latest single, “Indelible”, they are also dropping their newest EP, More to Me Than Misery on August 17. We caught up with Charlie Boughton, the band’s lead singer and he filled us in on all things Homebound.
1. Where did the name Homebound come from?
There’s no interesting story behind it unfortunately! We needed a name and at the time it was the one suggestion we disliked the least!
2. Favorite song off the new EP More to Me Than Misery?
That’s a tough one, lyrically and melody wise it would have to be Truth Be Told. I’m a big fan of the ending in that song. Indelible is another favourite just because we’ve never done a slower and softer song so that was a fun one to write.
3. What was process like for creating the new “Indelible” video?
It was a smooth and fun day. We felt the song suited a narrative based video as opposed to any full band play-through which made a nice change for us. We shot it in a house that was a converted chapel which meant for a really interesting house layout with plenty of different rooms. The actors on set playing the older couple fell straight into their roles and it was great to see it all come together so well. We were all very stoked on the outcome.
4. Touring or recording?
That’s another tough one which I’m sure we’d all debate different answers. Both of them meet different needs and levels of self fulfilment but if I had to choose, it would have to be touring. The feeling you get on stage when you hear people singing words back is like no other.
5. Now that there’s a new EP and video out, is there anything else on the agenda for the band?
We are soon to start our first UK headline tour; It’s a little nerve-racking but it does allow for a some creative freedom in being able to explore our setlist a little more with having a longer set to play more songs.
Are you excited for the EP?
