- Can you introduce yourself to those who may not know you?
My name is DESANKA, and I am a recording artist from Los Angeles.
- How would you describe your music to people who have never heard it before?
If you haven’t heard my music before, I would describe it as up-beat, relatable, exciting, and positive! My songs are great car jams and just seem to put people in a good mood!
- What are you looking forward to for the rest of the year?
I have a lot in the works for this year that I have to keep on the down low. However, I can tell you that I am looking forward to releasing more music & music videos!
- Who are your musical influences?
One of my biggest modern musical influences is Julia Michaels. She is such an inspiration to so many people for creating tunes that are so real and true to her as a person, as well as an artist. I also feel that the production of her songs are very unique and different, yet still on trend and “radio-friendly”.
- What about nonmusical influences?
Even though she does have a musical side to her, my all-time idol is Judy Garland. She carried a legendary film at such a young age, and experienced ridicule while being thrusted into the world of Hollywood. I also believe that she is one of the greatest triple-threat entertainers of our time. She has inspired me to be a performer ever since I was five years old.
- If you could collaborate with any musician, who would it be and why?
If I were to collaborate with any musician, I would love to work with Zedd because I feel that he could add another dimension to my music by elevating the production in a way that would further enhance my lyrics and overall vibe. It would most definitely be a magical collaboration.
- What do you hope fans get from your music?
I hope that my fans are able to connect with my music on a personal level. I believe that I have gone through many relatable events in my life, and could only hope that anyone who is listening can identify with my lyrics, leaving them with a positive state of mind when moving forward.
- Tell us a little bit about your new song, “Heart on a String”?
My newest single “Heart On A String” is all about the rollercoaster of young love, while developing feelings for someone, yet not wanting to be noticed out of desperation. As a result, choosing to play the confident and arrogant character. In the end, potentially losing that person from not being forth-coming and honest about your feelings.
- What is something that you’ve accomplished so far in your career that you are most proud of?
Something that I have accomplished so far in my career that I am proud of is being a completely self-funded, independent artist in the making of my music and music videos.
- What is a song you wish you wrote and why?
I wish that I had written the song “Issues” by Julia Michaels. It is so powerful and definitely one-of-a-kind, as well as relatable to just about everyone.
