Introduce yourself to the readers.
My name is Clancy and I’m 19. I’m from Canada.
How would you describe your sound to someone who’s never listened to you before?
I would say sultry, but bad-ass.
What are some inspirations for your music?
Just doing it for me; proving to myself that I can make my dreams come true. Me. I keep myself going every day.
When did you start doing music?
My entire life I’ve been involved in music and songwriting. Two years ago, I really put the foot down and was like, “fuck musical theater, I want to song write”. And that’s what I’m doing.
You recently released “Subconscious Suicide”, Take me through the journey of that song.
When I was here the first time in L.A., I was confused on what to do. I had met this guy and he just really put me down; he put me in my place. He was like, “There’s a system here in L.A. – you’re gonna have to go through the work”. So he really just put me through it mentally. And I had the biggest envy of him. So when I was writing “Subconscious Suicide”, I really pulled from that. That was kind of my reasoning for writing the song. I wrote it here [Los Angeles], recorded it in London and finished it in Dallas, Texas. It took me everywhere.
What can people expect at a live show?
Dancing. I can’t fucking dance, but I love to dance. I’m going to make you dance. And just a lot of love. I just love to interact with the crowd and be in the moment.
What’s something readers should know about you?
My music is purely me and my head. And the only people I ever work with are the people and musicians that are going into the studio with me. I’m proud. I truly am.
What are your plans for 2020?
A whole lot of bad-ass shit. We’re gonna keep trying to take over L.A.. Keep playing shows, releasing music. Just building a fan base. I want people to know my name.
