On May 7th, Indie-pop singer/ songwriter Frances Eliza released her latest single “Intertwined”. Stopping you in your tracks, this soul-catching song will make you reflect on the perspectives of others with a bold and bright new mind.
For the song’s inspiration, Eliza explains,
“Intertwined,” explores the difficult and personal battle of disconnecting oneself from a toxic and emotionally abusive partner.”
Coming in as a follow-up to the April release of her single “Selkirk” and the 2019 release of her EP “Sleepwalking,” “Intertwined” carries a large truth. Speaking on the harsh realities that can be presented in life.
With deep concepts and serious lyrics, “Intertwined” creates a fusion between light and dark. The song’s light pop melodies offer a stark contrast between the raw lyrical content.
For the production process and inspiration of “Intertwined”, Eliza states:
“Every lyric was intentional. “Intertwined” carries a plethora of lyrics, and I didn’t want any of them to be filler. I almost always insert filler lyrics until I can find the perfect match for the story I’m conveying. The process took me until the summer to find the perfect fit for this song.”
At just 13 Eliza began playing the guitar. Learning to sing harmonies and develop her own voice, Eliza grew to become a student of Jazz.
The combination of her musical studies, and lived experiences have allowed for a piece such as “Intertwined” to be formulated. The song’s heavy lyrics and ironic cheery melodies offer depth and sonic wonder.
And as Eliza puts it:
“Intertwined” has definitely helped me build even more confidence and strength in telling stories like mine and in further discovering and exploring my own sound.
