Earlier this year, FLETCHER released her debut EP you ruined new york city for me, but one song on the EP seemed to speak to fans more than the rest. “All Love” is an emotionally charged song detailing the emotions one feels after seeing an ex-partner with someone else. The song paints a vivid picture of FLETCHER’s time at NYU, there’s a nostalgic grittiness to the song that is reminiscent of her time spent on the Lower East Side of Manhattan during the former relationship, and the music video for “All Love” captures the nostalgia and sadness in the song perfectly.
“All Love” shows FLETCHER walking into a party and seeing her ex-partner with another person. Throughout the video, flashes of a burning chair, a smashed heart and more appear, symbolizing the things one feels after a break-up. The video captures the pain and all of the emotions one feels during a time like that flawlessly. It’s an incredibly raw representation of the song and only adds more layers to the all ready complex song. The music video shares FLETCHER’s journey through this party, and ends with her approaching her ex-partner to meet the person they’re with.
Upon the release of the euphoric video for “All Love” yesterday, Fletcher took to her Instagram to talk through the importance of the song and video in her life. “I’ve learned that life is far more interesting and beautiful when you let yourself feel everything… all the highs and the lows…versus just letting yourself feel nothing at all to protect and numb your heart from the pain,” she started. “Some of the most incredible things in my life have come from allowing myself to be more vulnerable by letting people see [me as] Cari. But it isn’t easy, and it’s something I’m still learning to do. Things will happen and we’ll never understand why people will come in and out of your life when they’re supposed to…that’s a pill I’m learning to swallow, our hearts will break, we’ll be madly in love, and we’ll be insanely lost, we’ll be on a high one day and down in the dirt next.” All of which is the perfect sentiment to pair with the video.
FLETCHER just wrapped up her first worldwide headlining tour earlier this fall, but she’s one to watch in 2020. She’ll be hitting some dates of the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball tour this winter, with more touring and new music to come next year.
