Early this morning at 9 a.m. ET, FINNEAS released his newest song “Can’t Wait To Be Dead.” As a singer, songwriter, and producer, he has written and produced music with many artists, including his popular younger sister Billie Eilish.
While he has been putting music out since 2016, his single “Let’s Fall in Love for the Night” from 2019 has helped his own music career flourish. His most successful song to date, it peaked at number 17 on the US Billboard Alternative Songs chart and in the Top 15 Alternative Radio. It was the first single released from his debut EP Blood Harmony. It scanned gold in North America and helped him accumulate over 575 million streams across his discography.

Following the success of the EP and many singles, FINNEAS released a deluxe album of Blood Harmony this past August. It includes a new song “Break My Heart Again” and a new version of “Let’s Fall in Love for the Night” with a 1964 twist.

Prior to “Can’t Wait To Be Dead,” he released his lockdown single “What They’ll Say About Us,” a testament to hope, strength, and struggles.
“I wrote this song in June after spending the day at a protest in Downtown LA, filled with hope with the prospect that millions of people were coming together from all over the world to fight against institutionalized racism and inequality” FINNEAS said. “During that time, I ’d also been following Amanda Kloots as she documented her husband Nick Cordero’s time in the ICU while in a coma after being admitted for COVID-19. Imagining her sitting by his side, waiting, hopeful for him to wake up, it got me thinking about all the millions of people, all over the world, who also have loved ones, parents, children and extended family members going through the same thing. Fighting this horrific virus. Some will over-come and wake up again, while others, tragically may not. This song is dedicated to all who have had to endure this year. I hope this song can offer some sort of comfort to those who may need it.”

The six-time Grammy Award winner’s new song “Can’t Wait To Be Dead” is a testament to the current times. He shares the meaning behind the song and the relationship it represents.
“I’m happy for this song to mean anything to anyone who listens to it but to me, it’s a song about my relationship with the Internet” FINNAES said. “Especially in an election year. Especially during a pandemic. Sometimes, the internet makes me laugh, sometimes it makes me cry, sometimes it makes me hopeful. But sometimes, it really makes me wanna be dead.”
The official music video directed by Constellation Jones also known as Clark Jackson will be released tomorrow.
