While electro-pop and acoustic-pop are often categorized as completely divided genres, Elesa Marmo proves that they can be beautifully intertwined on her debut EP, entitled Clear Blue. The Long Island based songstress’ knack for catchy, synth driven electro-pop is demonstrated by opening track “Bottled”, which shows Marmo at her absolute poppiest. With kicking percussion and synths, paired with a soft and ethereal pre-chorus, “Bottled” is as catchy as it is beautiful. The next two tracks are a complete change in pace, as they opt for a much more organic, acoustic sound, with “Swimming Pools” presenting a subdued, snappy beat, while “Summers Over” takes a folksier route. Marmo’s voice is simply stunning, and these tracks let her voice flourish.
In many ways, the final track “Square One” splits the difference between the electro-pop of “Bottled”, and the acoustic-pop of “Swimming Pools” and “Summers Over”. With synths, snaps, snares, and a funky guitar riff that follows the chorus, “Square One” is the perfect amalgamation of what Marmo showed on previous tracks while maintaining its own memorable sound and personality. All in all, Clear Blue proves to be a promising first step for Elesa Marmo, and we can’t wait to hear more. Read our interview with Elesa and listen to the EP below!

Hi! I’m a singer/songwriter from Long Island and I’m 23 years old!
BTS: How does it feel to have released your debut EP?
So exciting!!! It’s my first piece of work that shows who I am.
BTS: What was the inspiration behind titling the EP Clear Blue?
It’s from a line in one of my songs Swimming Pools and it’s the color I felt described the process of making this EP just my emotions felt clear.
BTS: How would you describe your sound?
Acoustic and electronic pop
BTS: What are you hoping to say with Clear Blue?
Just honest raw emotions that hopefully others can relate to.
BTS: Who are some of your biggest musical influences?
Stevie Nicks, Miley Cyrus, and Lorde
BTS: If you could collaborate with any artist, living or dead, who would it be and why?
STEVIE NICKS
BTS: If you were stranded on a deserted island and could only listen to one album, what album would it be and why?
