Durand Jones & The Indications are returning with their first full-length album in nearly four years, Flowers. Jones and bandmates Aaron Frazer and Blake Rhein will release the new record on June 27 via Dead Oceans.
Jones & The Indications have also shared the record’s jazzy lead single “Been So Long.” It’s a spacey song with class, as proven by Jone’s silky smooth vocal performance and hypnotic instrumental deliveries by Frazer and Rhein. The music video for “Been So Long” features a blurry camera capturing five men dancing synchronously. Watch the video below. Pre-order Flowers here.
It’s possible that the vibe “Been So Long” brings is the same tone Jones & The Indications are looking to deliver across Flowers. The band describes the full record as soul-filled with a side of disco. It’s an album for cruising. It’s sexy. The LP will feature eleven total tracks. And according to Jones, it’s going to be a reflective record.
“I had spent the last year and a half laying everything out that I felt insecure about — I felt insecure about my sexuality, growing up poor; about a myriad of things,” said Jones. “I laid all of that out on the table and it made me such a stronger person, to the point that I got back to the Indications and I was way more sure of myself.”
The last album The Indications released together was 2021’s Private Space. Jones released a solo album, Wait Til I Get Over in 2023. Frazer’solo record Into The Blue was shared in summer 2024.
