Last Friday and Saturday, fans from all over came to the Brooklyn Mirage for the well-known electronic music producer and DJ, Chris Lake, as well as multiple house artists to get the crowd amped before his arrival on stage.
Before Lake’s two and a half hour set, performances from Cloonee, Egyptian Lover, Honeyluv, QRTR, Kevin Saunderson, and Gettoblaster started the night off on a high note with each of their separate sounds that were still able to keep the audience engaged. Despite those who went to the Saturday performance having to endure a torrential downpour, the time leading up to when Lake came on stage were filled with adrenaline and excitement from smaller artists up until the main event.
Doors to the venue opened at 10PM, with many of those attending the show not coming until later in the night closer to when Lake was supposed to take the stage. As each artist went through their set, the exhilaration only filled throughout the outdoor space as fans impatiently awaited Lake’s arrival. Slowly, the space became more crowded and Lake greeted the eager crowd around 2 AM, where he was met with enthusiastic cheers from fans excited to dance until the early hours of the morning.
Lake played some favorites such as “Who Are You?” and “Operator” which were definitely some of his better known songs that got the crowd moving and dancing to every beat. His music prevented anyone in the crowd from feeling tired and Lake kept the energy in the room until the last possible second.
At his Friday night performance, Lake stayed at Brooklyn Mirage past the 4AM curfew, which the crowd was definitely thrilled about since nobody was ready to go home just yet despite the heat that those at the Friday show had to endure. The Mirage is a rain-or-shine venue, so despite the rain on Saturday, fans were still ready for the night ahead, and were even given complimentary ponchos. This two day performance is what New York has missed over the last year, and no heat or rain could have stopped this energy-induced, pyrotechnic-filled night.
