Charli XCX is back at it again with another summer bop. This time, she’s released “Hot Girl (Bodies Bodies Bodies)” written with George Daniel of The 1975 for a new murder mystery film, Bodies Bodies Bodies.
“Hot Girl”, released on July 27, was created to be a theme song for the leading group of twenty-somethings in Bodies Bodies Bodies. The group of fun-loving and rich party goers is hosting a party in a remote family mansion when things go wrong and someone ends up dead. This A24 film stars Amandla Stenberg, Maria Bakalova, Myha’la Herrold, Chase Sui Wonders, Rachel Sennott, Lee Pace, and Pete Davidson. Bodies Bodies Bodies is expected to hit theaters on August 12.
“Hot Girl” features the perfect combination of loud bass and Charli XCX’s luscious vocals. This tune reminds us of her other hot girl anthem, “Vroom Vroom” and is the second summer jam after her house collaboration with Tiësto for “Hot In It”.
Charli XCX is currently in the middle of an international tour through North America and Europe in support of her album, Crash, which was released earlier this year on March 18. With rave reviews from her fanbase and critics alike, Crash is Charli XCX’s fifth studio album that features collaborations with Rina Sawayama in “Beg For You” and Christine and The Queens and Caroline Polachek in “New Shapes”. The album and its deluxe version feature producers like A.G. Cook, Deaton Chris Anthony, Daniel and many more. It also received a grand 8.0 rating on Pitchfork.
As part of her extensive tour this year, Charli XCX will be at Lollapalooza, Life is Beautiful, and the Firefly Music Festival.
If it’s anybody’s year, it belongs to Charli XCX.
