Carly Rae Jepsen gave fans a surprise this week by releasing an eight-track EP entitled Emotion: Side B in celebration of the one-year anniversary of her E•mo•tion LP. The EP released Friday, August 26th and showcases many Madonna-esque 1980’s tracks such as, ‘The First Time,’ and the fueled up dance tracks ‘Higher’ and ‘The One’. ‘Fever’ and ‘Body Language’ are other stand out tracks that prove that Jepsen isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
In fact, the EP proves why we will always love Jepsen. It’s her talent, vocals and the incredible way she manages to keep us all on our feet with every track. The EP also features a wistful tune to a hard-to-read man entitled ‘cry’and offers another playful track called ‘Store’ and the emotional ‘Roses’.
“Emotion Side B almost never was. Well, technically all the songs existed I just didn’t think to share them until we toured,” the singer writes in the liner notes. “But meeting many of you face to face, getting to share in one of the most joyful touring experiences of my life, all I wanted was to give back more of the feelings you all gave me. So this is for you guys, a B sides album full of some extra tunes we made on the journey to Emotion. I hope you enjoy. And thank you for making the past year so incredible. The memes, the covers, the parties, and the shows. You keep me inspired. So yeah… new album on the way… but here’s something to hold yah over till then.”
All in all, Jepsen outdid herself again, and the fans are more than thrilled. We can’t wait for what’s to come, and how Jepsen will grow musically on her next LP. In the meantime, we’ll hold ourselves over with Emotion: Side B.
