After the release of his debut single “Story of a Stoner” preluding his album, Blunts & Blondes released his full EDM, rap project Story of a Stoner on 4/20 (appropriate release date for the title of the album).
The Florida native dropped his title track a few weeks ago, setting the stage for this full art piece. And the album does not disappoint.
With other major artist features such as Zeds Dead, Smokepurpp, and Yung Pinch, the album is filled with aggressive EDM and vibey emo-rap vocals.
The first of our favorite tracks on the list would be ‘Think Of You,” Blunt’s hit with Zeds Dead. The tune is filled with wild beats and aggressive drops — true Zeds Dead style.
The next favorite on this project is “On My Way” featuring rapper Lil West. The track leaves the listener with interesting vocals and a vibrant backbeat.
The next of our favorite hits on the album is the track “Close to Me” with Yung Pinch. This track has a laid-back rhythm and smooth vocals, giving the listener a perfect track to vibe to, giving off a very almost beachy sound.
The Blunts & Blondes catalog has garnered acclaim across multiple verticals as well. The producer has an official remix of Rebelution’s “Safe & Sound,” a joint single with GRiZ, and in 2020, dropped a collaboration with DJ Afterthought called “McQueen Dreams” that featured Wiz Khalifa on vocals. The latter offers a preview of what’s to come, as the future of Blunts & Blondes will find him exploring his background and love for the genre of hip-hop.
His debut album Story of a Stoner, out April 20, finds him at that intersection — offering a hip-hop-focused album that’s still flush with electronic production and collaborations.
