If you could define epic how would you? Would you define it by your greatest adventure, favorite book, wild Tv moment? Or, would you define epic by Billie Eilish and ROSALÍA dropping their new song “Lo Vas A Olvidar”, because that’s pretty epic. On January 21st, the duo dropped the single “Lo Vas A Olvidar”, which is set to be featured in Jules pt 2 of euphoria, airing January 24th. The HBO series tackles heartbreak, addiction, high school, and everything in-between. Every episode is met with killer style and lets the viewers in on the real, and raw lives of every character.
The visual opens with both singers isolated in the dark. Although they stand together through their collaboration, both are represented as alone. The visuals are simple and the camera sways back and forth to draw on the underlying emotions that are starting to brew. As layers of haze melt onto the screen, it’s clear that disparity is all around. However, Eilish angelically whispers Lo Vas A Olvidar (Can you let it go) while ROSALÍA harmoniously intertwines. Both display a level of light that combats the darkness.
Directed by Nabil, it’s no wonder why it has such success at conveying powerful visuals, Nabil has worked with the likes of artists such as; Kanye, Frank Ocean, FKA Twigs, and others.
The pair first teased the track in March of 2019 when ROSALÍA posted a photo and tweeted “Can’t wait to finish our song compartir contigo en el estudio o verte ayer actuar me inspira sooo much, love you B.” The collaboration was confirmed between the two, yet nothing was produced until Billie Eilish took to Instagram and posted “you guys have been waiting for this 😁 “Lo Vas A Olvidar” with @rosalia.vt for @euphoria 🤍 song and music video out Thursday at 9 am pt!!!
The song will be the first single in the new year for both. Following the release of Eilish’s highly anticipated 2020 album Therefore I Am and her recent debut of the book of childhood photos. Eilish has once again proven how hauntingly beautiful her sounds can be. ROSALÍA who is coming back from the 2018 release of her album, El Mar Querer, and latest single, “Blinding lights (Remix)”, alongside the Weekend. Is displaying utter serenity. The two harmoniously intertwine until Eilish closes the song with the line “If I wasn’t important, then why would you waste all your poison?”
