Making his return only a month after his last single “Broke My Heart,” Canadian artist B00sted dropped a new song today. “Close To Me” is another collaboration with KNOWN., a close friend and fellow musician.
The 20-year-old has been making music for some time now with his first album, Below Zero, dropping back in 2019. He has accumulated over 50,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, a number that will only rise when met with the music 2022 will bring.
“Close To Me” (feat. KNOWN.) is B00sted’s first release of 2022. The song came to be back in January 2021 while the duo was working on an EP together.
“I want people to get that ‘feel good’ feeling with this song. This song has a super sad and happy vibe which makes it super easy to throw on, whatever your mood is.”
The two-minute, 15-second pop song is accompanied by R&B undertones that tend to B00sted’s style. KNOWN. opens up and closes out the song, but the two bounce off and balance one another really well. It’s a chill song that you can groove to but also might put you in your feels a little bit.
“The song is about falling in love and about how dangerous and confusing it can be. It was inspired the same way all of the music Cody (KNOWN.) and I make together, ‘by coming up with a melody and writing a hook together.’ After we had a hook down, I just went and freestyled my verse. I had to go back and change a bit of the lyrics but most of the time my best writing comes by just freestyling.”
“Close To Me” (feat. KNOWN.) is B00sted’s favorite song from his upcoming EP. Set to release on February 4, Hometown is a six-song body of work that he can’t wait to share with others. As for the rest of 2022, “this year is going to be crazy” as he’s already in the process of signing his first record deal. We eagerly await the new music he’s going to bring and are excited to follow his journey.
