For her last installment as our Artist of the Week, Presley Tennant reflects on her career so far. Check it out below!
Let’s just say 2018 has already started off AMAZING! Before we get into my plans for 2018, I would like to take this opportunity to reflect on my amazing journey so far and how thankful I am for the support from my team who I consider my family. I started singing when I was 7 years old and then started dancing when I was 10 years old. I knew at that point that I wanted to be an artist. I can’t tell you how much my family means to me. They are the most supportive and loving family anyone could ever have. They have always encouraged me to work hard, never give up and most importantly to have fun. They have helped me stay focused and taught me the importance of being a role model. With their support, I joined a girl group at age 11 called the 5LP’s (5 Little Princesses). I learned to sing and dance at a very intensive and creative level. This is where I had the privilege to meet and work with Rosero McCoy. Rosero has been a wonderful mentor, an amazing creative director and who is now one of my managers. My writing partner is Eric Mc Coy, a.k.a. Well Written, who helps me produce and write my songs. Michele Soulchild (assistant to Rosero), has developed me into the dancer that I am today and is part of the Rosero, INC. family. In 2017 I have signed and teamed up with Shi Records, an international record label, and IMCG Productions. And very special “thank you” to both Ying Shi and John Bryan who have helped me so much already. They were truly the final piece to the team and I again want to say it’s an AWESOME family to be a part of. Already in 2017 I have recorded multiple songs and have worked with some fantastic people within the industry including David Lei Brandt, Erik Issac and Grammy winning producers, Ken Caillat and Bill Smith. IMCG Productions has contracted Socialite and Gramaphone, my social media team, to help promote my music by reaching a larger fan base and creating my personal branding as I grow as an artist. I have had the most wonderful opportunities performing at Staples Center for sold-out crowds of 16,000 people, Honda Center in Anaheim, VidCon 2016 & 2017, Musical.Ly Stages, and was the performing artist for Sharp International for 2017 which included Knott’s Berry Farm, Magic Mountain, Las Vegas, Hawaii, and many other locations throughout Southern California. This year in 2018 we have already confirmed the NAMM show for Jan. 27th and I have my own concert series event (Presley & Friends) at the Avalon in Hollywood beginning March 25th along with other tentative scheduled events.
My music and writing have been about my journey as teenager/young adult and my life experiences. While my songs have a dear meaning to me and what a teen or young adult experiences growing up to my old age of 15 years old. For example, I wrote “Pressure,” when I was 13 years old and the song is about peer pressure and saying you don’t have to give into it to be cool or accepted. “Soda Pop,” was about overcoming my fears mostly with dance. When I was younger I would jump directly into master classes full of adults and great dancers. I wouldn’t care what anyone thought about me. I know for me, that if I continue to practice and work hard, that I would eventually become good at it. When I wrote “Stronger (Untouchable),” it was an empowerment song for me as well as young adults, saying stick with your dreams as you are Untouchable. The song that I am the closest with is “BFF.” “BFF” was written about someone who I thought I was close with, someone who I thought could’ve been my best friend. But then they decided to shut me out and talked behind my back. It wasn’t something that I thought this person would actually do…but unfortunately, I was wrong. So I took all my experiences that related to that event and put a little twist to it. Instead of your BFF, Best Friend Forever, I twisted it up so now it BFF, Best Fake Friend. I also wrote a ballad named “The Woods” which also carries a lot of meaning behind it. I wrote this song a year ago and we have just finished the music video a couple of weeks ago. This song and video will be released on January 17th and I’m excited for everyone to see it. Something else I’m really proud to talk about is a remake we just did with Grammy Winning Artist, Jody Watley of her song “Friends.” Together with two other artists, we had the honor to work with “The Queen” herself Jody Watley on this remake. I’m so excited to see what 2018 will have in store for me!
I want to give a SPECIAL THANK YOU to my entire team (Shi Records, IMCG Productions, Rosero, Inc, Edge Management) for EVERYTHING YOU DO!! And THANK YOU for all of my fans that have been with me ON THIS AMAZING JOURNEY!!!!
