- If someone has never heard your music before, how would you describe it?
Pop/soul with a hint of sass.
- How did you get your start in music?
I started writing poetry for self therapy and always loved to sing. So I started combining the two and creating songs. From there I started performing my songs at open mic nights and posting YouTube covers. That led me to releasing an LP in 2014 of 9 original songs called Tunnel Vision. From there, I started touring the east coast and co writing for my second release, Bad Habits, which came out last month!
- You recently released your EP, Bad Habits, what was that process like?
This EP is all co-writes so that was a different kind of process than my first release. Co-writing is a wonderful learning experience. I think it helped me grow as a writer and opened my mind to new perspectives. The recording process was challenging for me vocally. My producer, Susan Cattaneo, really pushed me to get out of my confront zone and go beyond my limits and I am so thankful for that.
- What’s your musical inspiration?
Personal experience mostly but lately I’ve been writing from other peoples perspectives which is fun!
- What’s your nonmusical inspiration?
I have a love for fashion and really try to incorporate that into ‘Jenna Lotti’. I think it’s really important for artists to pay attention to how they are presenting themselves and I really love that side of show-biz. What you’re wearing on stage says a lot about who you are what you’re trying to do, its part of the show essentially.
- If you had the chance to collaborate with someone on your next record, who would it be and why?
If I could pick anyone, I would pick Justin Timberlake to produce my next record. The next one is going to be more pop and he’s one of my favorite producers. He’s so multi talented, it’s insane.
- What’s your favorite song to perform live, and why?
“My Oh My”, off of my new EP. It’s a super light and fun to play live! My fiance, Chris Facey, and I wrote it. It’s one of my favorites we’ve written together.
- What’s something you have to have with you on tour?
A pillow!! I always pass out on the car!
- What’s next for you in 2017?
I’ve already started working on my next project and have never been more excited!
Fun Questions:
- More peanut butter or more jelly?
Neither! More Avocado!
- Favorite holiday tradition?
Every Christmas Eve, my parents have my whole family over and we order Chinese food. We’ve been doing that for as long as I can remember!
- Favorite post thanksgiving meal?
I made myself a spinach, carrot and frozen banana smoothie to start detoxing! HA
- Obsession song?
Right now, I’m addicted to Gabrielle Aplins “Miss You”
- Favorite boyband?
*Nsync because Justin Timberlake, duh!
