Jack Avery
Hey! My name is Jack Avery, I’m 17 years old, and I’m from Susquehanna, Pennsylvania.
2. How did Why Don’t We get together?
Well, for me I started off as a solo artist and then I met the rest of the band members later on from some music events and other tours that we’ve done together. Kind of randomly the idea was brought about that we could form a group. We all really have the same aspirations and musical influences, so when that idea was put on the table we were like, “Why Don’t We?”
3. Any fun story behind the band name?-
Yes! We were all on a call to think of the name for our band and everyone was throwing out ideas, but then someone said, “Why don’t we name the group this…” And then someone said wait, “Why Don’t We would be an awesome name! Everyone was stoked about it, and that is how we found our name!
4. How would you describe your sound to any of our readers who are just finding out about you?
If The Chainsmokers, Justin Bieber, and Drake had a baby, that would be the sound of our music!
Daniel Seavey
Hey this is Daniel! I’m from Portland Oregon and I’m 17 years old.
5. Who are some of your biggest musical influences?
A huge musical influence for me is Jon Bellion. He is a big portion of where I find my musical creativity, and drive to be different and stand out. He has just always done his thing and worked hard at it and it pays off for him, so he really inspires me. Harry Connick is also a huge musical influence for me because he has acted like an older brother towards me for the last couple of years. He has taught me the importance of practice and hard work and humility and many other important lessons every artist should know and learn.
6. Non-musical influences?
My dad is a big influence on me because he’s been the one telling me I could make it in the music world since I was a kid. In fact, I don’t think I’d be here even doing this interview if it weren’t for him encouraging me and helping me play on the streets as a kid. That’s what really made me realize I wanted to pursue music.
7. You guys have found some really great success at a really early stage in your career – what has that all been like?
First off – thank you all so much!! It has been an amazing whirlwind of hard work and good memories. I have never worked this much in my life, yet I feel I haven’t worked a day. Especially when I have four of my favorite dudes going through it all alongside me.
Corbyn Besson
Hey! I’m Corbyn Besson, I’m 18 years old, and I’m from Northern Virginia.
8. Your first EP, Only The Beginning, just came out last month – what was the process of creating that like?
Making “Only The Beginning” was definitely one of the coolest experiences of my life. Before Why Don’t We, I didn’t have much experience recording music professionally and working with people who knew what they were doing, so learning and being guided through the recording process was amazing. I think what’s also cool is the memories me and the guys made while recording the EP. If something funny or awesome happened while recording a specific part or song we always remember it and can laugh about it again and again!
9. You guys played your first live shows last week – how was that experience to what you guys have done so far?
Last week we played in Philly and New York City for our first two shows ever, and the experience was insannneeeee! We were a bit nervous about how the shows would be since they were our first two, but the support was overwhelming and both crowds were packed! The fans knew all the words to every song and hearing them sing our songs back to us was such an amazing feeling! Also, the fact that it was our own headlining show was mind blowing.
Zach Herron
I’m Zach Herron, I’m 15 years old and from Dallas, Texas! 10. Where would you like to see yourselves and the band in 5 years? In 5 years, we would love to be making music for the world. Getting to visit every city/country in the world, performing our music, and meeting fans everywhere. And of course, to be selling out stadiums. 11. What’s one song you can’t stop listening to right now? Right now I personally can’t stop listening to “Grow Up” by Olly Murs! It’s a such a feel good song, and I just love it! 12. If you guys could collab with anybody, who would it be? Justin Bieber! I think I can speak for all of the guys on that one. He’s just someone we all grew up with and have all watched grow. His music is also insane, we would collab with him in an instant. Wouldn’t anyone?
Jonah Marais Hey! I’m Jonah Marais, I’m 18 years old, and from Stillwater, Minnesota 13. Favorite song on Only The Beginning? My favorite song on the EP is definitely “Free!”The drop is so interesting and it makes me wanna get up and dance haha 14. If you could travel back in time and see any live show, who would you go see and why? I’d travel to 1978 and go to a Bob Marley show. He was just all about good vibes, and he really was the first person to go mainstream with reggae. I feel like that’d be such an amazing concert. 15. What’s one thing you want to tell your fans? Thank you guys so so much. You’re the reason that all this is happening. I really feel as though this fandom is just one big family, and we’re all here for each other. Let’s see where this goes. xoxo |
