Singer-Songwriter Alec Benjamin shared his new single “Jesus in LA” with fans today. The song was released as Zane Lowe’s World Record on Beats 1 this morning. The song stays true to what Benjamin is known best for – his storytelling. The imagery displayed in the song makes it so personal, but also so easy for fans to relate to.
In addition to sharing the song with fans, Benjamin also shared the music video for song which was directed by Joey Brodnax. In the comments of the video, he shared that the song is about his journey of moving to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of making music. He talked about how he had this glamorous idea of what Los Angeles was going to be like and how he thought he was going to find happiness, but things were more complicated then that. “The song isn’t a literal take on religion or about Jesus at all,” Benjamin said in the YouTube comment. “It’s about searching for hope and happiness and realizing those things aren’t always where you think you’ll find them.”
