7 months after the release of her last album and 8 months after the release of her first single (“Hello”), Adele is onto her 3rd single of the 25 album cycle, which is “Send My Love (To Your New Lover)” – an upbeat, catchy pop song, which is much needed after the woefulness of her last 2 singles.
The video for this new single is as simple as you’d expect from Adele. She’s never been one for flashy videos; “Someone Like You” showed us Adele walking around a town in black and white; “Rolling in the Deep” had her sitting in a chair for the duration of the video; “When We Were Young” didn’t even have a video.
“Send My Love (To Your New Lover)” shows Adele in a beautiful floral dress against a black backdrop. As she sings along to the song and the video progresses, the camera gets closer and we can see the multiple layers of Adele, singing and dancing (as she does). As we get to the second verse, the layers multiply and some of the layers turn blue, and then red. Could this represent the cold and feisty sides of Adele? Could this just be an aesthetic choice? Who knows.
