Australian pop-rockers 5 Seconds of Summer released the music video for “Lie To Me”, which is the fourth single off of their third album Youngblood, which was released earlier this year via Capitol Records. On Thursday night, the band announced the upcoming release and drummer Ashton Irwin took to Twitter to share with fans that the “Lie To Me” video “represents when someone closest to you is in a toxic situation, and they take an emotional beating over and over. With no attempt to escape. It’s absolutely heartbreaking.”
At the end of 2018, 5 Seconds of Summer re-released “Lie To Me” with a verse featuring singer-songwriter Julia Michaels. The music video’s cold tones and dark lighting perfectly represent the emotion that lead singer Luke Hemmings and Michaels convey in the song. It’s the perfect visual to pair with the song.
