Luke Hemmings, Michael Clifford, Calum Hood and Ashton Irwin, better known as 5 Seconds of Summer or 5SOS for short, have done it once again as the Australian pop-rock band today debuted the music video for their latest release “Old Me”, sending their dedicated fandom into meltdown mode in the process.
The music video in and of itself is a masterpiece, showcasing the journey these four boys have been on to get to where they are today featuring re-enacted parts of their lives and time as a band together and even includes actual home videos/photos from each member. The single and video together really feels like one big thank you to the dedicated fans they have acquired as they head into the release of their fourth studio album later this month, the intro to the chorus also gives an insight to the troubles and journey the 5 Seconds of Summer lads have been through, “Shout out to the old me and everything you showed me, glad you didn’t listen when the world was trying to slow me…” A reoccurring theme throughout the video shows the boys travelling via train through presumably the Australian outback and an overlay of train doors opens through the video showcasing the stops of their career including songwriting sessions at home, small venue shows before they finally reach the ending of walking out to a stadium of adoring fans. Where they go next, who knows?
