Innings Festival is a new festival this weekend in Phoenix, Arizona brought to us by the same people that deliver Lollapalooza every year. Baseball Spring Training season is alive and well in the Phoenix valley this time of year, and these nights of entertainment after the games are the cherry on top. There are so many reasons why we are excited to head out to Tempe Beach Park for three days this weekend but here are the top 5:
1. Zia Records Pop-Up Shop
Zia Records is Arizona’s leading independent record store and always has some rare finds in the store. This weekend they’re bringing hundreds of vinyl, CD’s and merch to the festival for attendees to comb through. Even better, they are hosting meet & greets with artists including Young the Giant, White Reaper, and Cold War Kids. You can get more information and the schedule here.
2. Chef Demos
Each day a stage will be taken over by food and drink experiences from Phoenix’s best. Friday, it’s the Battle of Burgers with mystery celebrity guests and star judges. Saturday, it’s a eating and drinking relay. Sunday, it’s the Bar Brawl that will pit the best craft cocktails up against each other. Head over to the Left Field Stage to watch!
3. Baseball!
Baseball, of course, is the reason for the season. At the festival, fans are able to experience Home Run Derby, Speed Pitch, and Batting Cages. If you’re looking for some fun during music downtime or just want to show off your baseball skills to your festival friends head over to the Info Center to grab your waiver and head into the games.
4. Food
This festival fare is not your typical hot dogs and french fries. At Innings Festival, you can experience some of the best and most innovative local restaurants. El Jefe Tacos was the winner of the best beef taco at the Arizona taco festival and is where you can find real authentic Mexican food. Visit Kono pizza and to try a combination of ice cream and calzone – the pizza cone. Paradise Melts food truck will also be on hand serving gourmet grilled sandwiches on local artisan bread. Whatever you choose to eat, you won’t be disappointed.
5. Music
Finally, there are so many great artists to check out at this festival! The lineup is so diverse so there is definitely something for everyone. Headliners include Queens of the Stone Age, The Avett Brothers, and Chris Stapleton. We recommend you also check out Bishop Briggs, Local Natives, White Reaper, and Jake Bugg.
See you in Tempe this weekend! Don’t forget the festival’s official mobile app for iPhone or Android if you want to get the most up to date information on the festivities.
