Thinking of getting a new tattoo? Trying to come up with the perfect Instagram caption? Well, Ed Sheeran’s got you covered.
We all know that his new album Divide is full of touching, romantic, personal songs that give us major feels. Listening to the album is basically hopping aboard an emotional roller coaster. Here are some of our favorite lyrics:
“I see my future in your eyes…” – Perfect
It’s safe to say that Ed Sheeran is the king of wedding songs. He takes the small, simple moments of a relationship and turns them into touching songs that are poetic and sweet.
“And I’ve been known to give my all, jumping in harder than ten thousand rocks on the lake” – Dive
We all know what it’s like to put your heart out there and hope that your feelings are reciprocated. “Dive” is a powerful ballad about unrequited love that shows both vulnerability and strength.
“And when the world’s against me is when I really come alive, and every day that Satan tempts me I try to take it in my stride.” – Eraser
This is one of Ed’s more personal lyrics, but it can really apply to anyone in any walk of life. It’s important to remember to persevere and keep going, even when life gets you down.
“Oh I’m in pieces, it’s tearing me up, but I know a heart that’s broke is a heart that’s been loved” – Supermarket Flowers
“Supermarket Flowers” is definitely one of Ed’s most emotional songs. It is the story of losing his grandmother, and although he was hesitant at first to share it with the world, he decided to include it on the album, thanks to the encouragement of his grandfather. Every line in this song is touching, filled with raw emotion, but this lyric stands out. It’s a different perspective on a broken heart, and it is a reminder of the indescribable feeling of being loved.
“You know we are made up of love and hate, but both of them are balanced on a razor blade.” – What Do I Know
This is by far one of my favorite songs off the album. The message in this song is simple yet powerful – spreading love and positivity is the first step toward making the world a better place, especially in a time of so much tension and intolerance.
