We’re pretty sure that 93% of the world knows the catchy (and amazing) song, “Thrift Shop.” If you don’t though, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?
Go take a listen to a song that we think is going to be around for a long time.
Listen to Macklemore’s song “Thrift Shop” below.
Macklemore does more though than sing about going thrift shopping & wearing your granddad’s clothes.
Ben Haggerty aka “Macklemore” has a raspy, husky voice. He looks like he could pass as Ryan Gosling’s cousin. Voice and looks aside, Macklemore is a powerful rapper . He’s honest, raw and his words combined with beats produced by Ryan Lewis, are quality. We wanted to introduce you to some songs that hopefully will open your eyes to the beauty of his writing.
- Can’t Hold Us (BY FAR, our favorite song on the album. The beat on this song is superb. “So we put our hands up like the ceiling can’t hold us.” Don’t let anything hold you back. Do what you do best.)
- Cowboy Boots (Macklemore meets The Lumineers. Perfect song to drive to, dance to, or sit around a campfire with your friends and do a sing-a-long to. Perfect anthem for those who don’t want to grow up. Live young forever.)
- Thin Line (This song shows the battle that Macklemore & other artists face. The battle is between their relationships with other people and their relationship with their music. It’s hard for him to split the two, and sometimes music game seems more important to him, until the human relationships are gone, and he realizes that he wishes he did things differently.)
- Wing$ (This song is about the search of identity through the means of consumerism. The attempt is to analyze our infatuation and attachment to logos, labels, brands and the happiness that those labels bring us.)
There are other songs on the album & hopefully you’ll get a chance to listen to the entire album. We hope we’ll get to see Macklemore in the music scene for a long time.
