1. “Skin” will premier at 2 p.m. pacific time on February 1.
Sabrina Carpenter announced the premiere of the music video for her new single, Skin, via social media this weekend. The video looks to be pretty intense from a clip Carpenter posted on her Instagram.
2. Carpenter will be doing a live intro to the “Skin” video on her Youtube channel at 1:40 p.m Pacific Time.
Carpenter reported she will be signing on to her Youtube channel 20 minutes before the premiere of the music video to give it an intro, discuss the making and premise of the video and debut it.
3. There’s gonna be drama
Although Carpenter has said that her song “Skin” isn’t “calling out any single person,” there is certainly speculation that the song is a clapback to Olivia Rodrigo’s hit “Driver’s License,” which some fans believe is about Rodrigo’s ex, Joshua Bassett who has been connected to Carpenter.
On her Instagram, she wrote:
“Thank you to everyone who has listened to skin 🤍 especially those who have opened their minds to lyrically what i was trying to get across,” she wrote.
“i wasn’t bothered by a few lines in a (magnificent) song and wrote a diss track about it. i was at a tipping point in my life for countless reasons. so i was inspired to do what i usually do to cope, write something that i wish i could have told myself in the past. people can only get to you if you give them the power to. and a lot of people were trying to get to me. the song isn’t calling out one single person. some lines address a specific situation, while other lines address plenty of other experiences I’ve had this past year.”
If nothing else, the feud seems good for business as each singer involved has dropped a single with lyrics that relate to the situation. The drama is so complex, Buzzfeed News wrote a comprehensive guide to it, which can be found here. We are sure more is to come following the release of the music video for “Skin.”
