A much-anticipated TV series spin-off continuation of the 2017 film, American Satan, is hitting Amazon Prime Video in March. Paradise City will have 8 episodes and stars Andy Biersack and Ben Bruce who will reprise their roles from the original film.
American Satan received a decent reception from Rotten Tomatoes, with an approval rating of 75% based on reviews from 8 critics, with an average rating of 8.00/10.
A cult classic in the making, the film was given 4 out of 5 stars from film critic Emilie Black of Cinema Crazed who wrote: “American Satan is a film it might take time for fans to discover but it will more than likely get a following in the next few years.”
We think the movie, which combines the occult, rock music and killer aesthetics, is set up for success and here’s 3 reasons why:
1. Paradise City features familiar faces in their first roles on a series
The American Satan spin-off TV show features Black Veil Brides’ Andy Biersack and Asking Alexandria’s Ben Bruce in their premier slots as series regulars. The pair portray “the lives of a rock star with ties to the occult and a young rookie kid who idolizes him collide through their broken homes built by the music business.”
2. Rock and Metal artists are sprinkled throughout the show
Other favorite artists like Slipknot’s Sid Wilson, Lamb Of God’s Randy Blythe and Sleeping With Sirens’ Kellin Quinn also make appearances in the show, as well as Bella Thorne, Drea De Matteo, Mark Boone Jr, Fairuza Balk, BooBoo Stewart and Cameron Boyce.
3. The series is set to honor the Cameron Boyce Foundation
Paradise City was one of Cameron Boyce’s final screen roles before his passing in 2019 at the age of 20. Boyce’s character Simon is a main character in the series and is featured in every episode.
The Paradise City Instagram account recently announced the show will be donating a portion of the season’s proceeds to the Cameron Boyce Foundation, a charity that works to reduce gun violence and seek cures for epilepsy.
