Juan Luis Londoño Arias, professionally known as Maluma, dropped a heartbreaking new single “Hawái” yesterday along with a music video with the biggest twist.
“Hawài” is the fourth single the latin-pop singer has released this year following his chart-topping Billboard No. 1 single “ADMV” (Amor De Mi Vida) meaning “Love of my Life” and according to a recent interview with Apple, “Hawài” is the first from his next upcoming album set to be released later this year.
In his newest single, the colombian native reflects on a past toxic relationship and how in today’s modern age we tend to only show the good aspects of life and how deceiving photos may be. The song starts with the heartbreaking lyrics “Stop lying to yourself // The picture you posted with him saying that he was your heaven // Baby, I know you so well, I know it was to make me jealous // I won’t tell you who, but they saw you crying for me” as Maluma continues to explain how he knows he’s the one for her.
The beautifully produced music video directed by Jessy Terrero and shot in Miami, with the storyline concept come to life by the 26-year-old singer/songwriter himself, opens with Maluma and his girlfriend fighting and ending the toxic relationship. The action-packed, movie-like video continues as a heartbroken Maluma is upset seeing pictures being posted of the new couple which leads to Maluma later crashing their wedding and the video ending with a twist so shocking you have to watch for yourself to find out what happens.
