Spotify’s greatest feature is arguably their playlists. There seems to be a playlist for every occasion and mood you could possibly think of, from joy to sadness to chilling on your couch eating ice cream. Here are some of the few best playlists on Spotify.
Updated every Monday, this playlist has the best new songs from upcoming indie artists. Following this playlist is a great way to catch up on what’s going on in the indie scene right now and stay updated with what’s new and cool. The artists on this playlist include the likes of Primal Scream, M83 and The Kills.
2. Discover Weekly
Okay, this is probably the single best thing about Spotify. Every user has a different, customized playlist updated every Monday with recommendations on what you should listen to based on your listening history. It’s just for you and totally amazing. I’ve discovered a good portion of my favorite bands through this playlist. It’s automatically generated and different for everyone, so check your playlist sidebar (or playlist section on mobile) to listen.
You know that moment when you’re with your friends in the car, all singing along to some old song from the 2000’s? This playlist is exactly what you need for that moment. It has probably every single nostalgia-filled 2000’s pop song you could think of.
This playlist, along with a series of “Women of (every other genre)”, was made for Women’s History Month, but why should it stop there? It’s so great that it can be listened to at any time of the year. It has the most revolutionary women in rock who sparked rebellions. It ranges across all time periods and includes Joan Jett, Björk, HAIM and more. You can also check out Women of Indie, Women of Pop, and Women of R&B (you can see more “women of” playlists by searching for them).
This one goes out to middle school you. They need to break free and release your inner emo kid. You know you want to. This playlist is the Bible of emo.
